Keurig Platinum Coffeemaker Giveaway: What’s Your Fave Flavor?

by SocialLuxe Lounge on July 1, 2009 · 76 comments

We have our winner: The Glamorous Life Association, who said "My favorite flavor? the Vanilla one" is the lucky winner of the Keurig Platinum Edition Coffemaker! Congrats, Marcy! And for the rest of you hot drinking lovers, come see more of Keurig at the Swiffer Social Luxe Lounge in our Internet Cafe!

Let me introduce you to my BFF appliance: The Keurig Platinum Edition Coffeemaker.

We've been through a dozen coffeemakers in my house and still we kept heading back to the coffee shop on a near daily basis. Why? Because the coffee makers made my cup too strong, too weak too...wrong. Further complicating matters was the fact that my husband prefers a very different cup of coffee than me. So I was forced to drink his brew or he had to drink mine.  And then there was the matter of the last cup of coffee in the pot. That should just be outlawed. It's always gross!

The Keurig really solved our a.m. coffee wars, bringing equality back to our brewing. Every cup is brewed individually to your personal specifications. I was expecting that part to be great - and indeed it was. What we did not expect, however, was how popular the device would be with the rest of our non-coffee drinking family members. I had no idea how versatile Keurigs were before I owned mine. For starters:

Iced Tea - the Platinum has a setting that allows you to brew their Tea K-cups in a concentrated form. Add some crushed ice and you have iced tea. Add some lemon juice and sweetener, and you have an Arnold Palmer.

Hot Chocolate - Have you seen the selection of Hot Cocoa K-cups for the Keurig. My kids are in love. We top with whipped cream or mini marshmallows for a special treat

Instant Oatmeal, Soup, etc - We don't have "instant hot" water in our house but I have always wished we did for all those "just add hot water" food items. Now we do!  The Keurig Platinum Edition can be run without a K-cup to prepare these things in a jiffy or to use your own tea. My kids are always running out the door with cup of oatmeal en route to school!

My husband was sure he'd hate this coffeemaker because he has a coffee (grind your own) that he prefers. But he recently purchased a My K-Cup attachment that lets him brew cups with his own coffee and all is good in Java-land here. Everyone is drinking the beverage they prefer, at the strength they prefer, fresh and ready when they want it. We've banished the last cup from the pot from our kingdom.

Wish you had a Keurig Platinum Edition too? Now is your chance! Visit the Keurig website and have a look at their multitude of K-cup flavors. Tell us in the comments below which is your favorite, and how you'd use your Keurig. One winner will be selected at random and announced on 7/8.

This Giveaway is now Closed.

Oooh, easy: the Cafe Escapes milk chocolate hot chocolate. I’m not a coffee drinker, but would love it for guests, and my husband on weekends, and of course hot water!

Chris 07.01.09 at 10:41 am

Ooh the donut shop coffee and the ghiradelli hot cocoas sound yummy. I would love to have a Keurig for our morning coffee and for guests that want different flavours when entertaining.

Jennifer Cooper 07.01.09 at 10:41 am

They even have Caribou coffee?!?? So I’ll go with the Caribou free-trade coffee and the favorite coffee in the house at the moment (so excited that they have it for this machine so please PLEASE pick me) Wild Mountain Blueberry Coffee by Green Mountain.

angi 07.01.09 at 10:43 am

OH! KONA! Enough said! I want one!

The Glamorous Life Association 07.01.09 at 10:45 am

I heart coffee. No really it is like a very good friend to me. And GUESS WHAT? My coffee pot…BROKE.

My favorite flavor? the Vanilla one. That way I pretend I am eating ice cream with a caffine kick to it!

And by the way? Giving stuff away is super GLAMOROUS. You rock.

Melissa Multitasking Mama 07.01.09 at 10:51 am

The butter toffee by Gloria Jeans sounds heavenly! and I would use the Keurig for every task you mentioned- iced tea, hot tea, oatmeal and best of all- a good ole cuppa joe :-) Thanks for offering the giveaway!

Erin O. 07.01.09 at 10:52 am

ONE favorite? Not possible…how ’bout 3? “Donut Shop”…maybe this flavor would keep me out of the ACTUAL donut shop. “Cinnamon Stick” and my personal favorite…”Jet Fuel”, now that sounds like my kind of brew!

I would love to be able to brew one cup at a time…I have a tendency to drink, oh, a whole pot on my own. My stomach could use some lining…that’s all I’m sayin’.

Jamie 07.01.09 at 10:56 am

I would pick the Big Easy Bold by Emeril. Because who doesn’t like Big and Easy.

I would use the Keurig to get my booty out of bed on time. And it would probably take something Dutch to do it.

Melissa [IS•LY] 07.01.09 at 11:17 am

Postum anyone? JK.

I’d love to cuddle up with some of the Ghiradelli hot cocoa. MMmm, yum!

tricia mumby 07.01.09 at 11:25 am

I’m with the Barenaked Ladies: Vanilla is the finest of the flavours! I’d bel lovin’ the Vanilla Bean BAM! So many good ones to choose from though!

Mom Of Faith 07.01.09 at 11:44 am

Oh man. I have the same problem. If fact, I have two coffee makers on my counter right now and neither one makes a good cup of coffee. I drink enough coffee in one day that I need a tasty cup.

If I could choose any flavor it would definitely be the Fair Trade variety pack. We currently support Fair Trade products and would continue to do so in this instance. Plus I love the idea of trying out all the different varieties to find my favorite.

Carrisa 07.01.09 at 11:58 am

Either the dark or the Kona. I love them rich and bold and strong! I would keep that bad boy in my office and keep it for only me. The free coffee here at work sucks.

Shanna 07.01.09 at 12:39 pm

ooooooh love anything dark & bold.. the GM Sumatra is good and the Donut Shop…. mmmmmm.

SBShell 07.01.09 at 12:56 pm

I hate to admit, I am plain ole coffee person. Can’t drink the flavored stuff before 3 p.m. We would totally use it for company and the hot water. My daughter has oatmeal for breakfast EVERY MORNING!

shannon connolly 07.01.09 at 1:06 pm

I am not a coffee drinker except for the occasional cup at cafe du monde in New Orleans when I am having beignets. However, I LOVE tea and was very excited to see that they offered African Rooibos Tea by Twinings. I have been a fan of South African Red tea for years. My hubby would love the Jazzed Up Decaf Coffee by Emerils. He loves coffee but I have to keep him off the caffeine as he goes a bit nuts when he has to much. The Keuring would really fit our lifestyle since we all like something different and then there isn’t any waste. The kids and of course mom & dad would also love all ofthe hot chocolates! What a great idea.

Jennifer 07.01.09 at 1:21 pm

I would love this. The cinnamon stick sounds wonderful. My son loves flavored teas. Plus, the hot water feature is great!

Nicole (SAHM Reviews) 07.01.09 at 1:44 pm

Did I read correctly that it makes hot cocoa? OMG that would be heavenly. Especially the Ghirardelli Hot Cocoa Packets.

Erin L 07.01.09 at 2:01 pm

I love any of the Gloria Jeans coffees and you can’t go wrong with Ghiradelli Hot Chocolate. I love ALL flavored coffees and with our itty bitty one at home, my husband and I are living off of caffeine.

Liz 07.01.09 at 2:39 pm

Definitely the Mudslide coffee! yummy! :-) I am a coffee addict, and let me tell ya, this would get used at our house for sure!

Tracy 07.01.09 at 3:36 pm

Just about any decaf. I am the only decaf drinker and getting coffee can be a pain!

Ali 07.01.09 at 4:44 pm

I would use it for pretty much EVERYTHING!!! For cocoa for the kids, tea for myself, coffee for hubby(has his own flavor, as well!) and myself on the weekends, and LOVE the hot water feature for soups & oatmeal!!! Can’t be that! Wow, it’s an all-in-one kitchen appliance, if you ask me!

Zakary 07.01.09 at 5:53 pm

The Newman’s Own Organic Coffee looks fantastic (but not the decaf)!

I want to buy one of these every time I see it on TV!

meg duerksen 07.02.09 at 7:42 am

i would pick the caribou blend.
i would probably use this for coffee….just for me! cup by cup. oh it sounds so nice. :)

amy @ bitchin' wives club 07.02.09 at 9:04 am

I am all about that Caribou Blend k-kup! Their coffee rocks. :)

amy @ bitchin' wives club 07.02.09 at 9:05 am

Oh, and I would use this for the kids’ hot cocoa all the time. It gets mighty cold in Wisconsin!!

Adrienne 07.03.09 at 10:54 pm

Well DUH! I would have to try the VanHoutte variety pack.

The idea of making soup in the coffee pot intrigues me, I never would have thought of that.

bonggamom 07.03.09 at 10:54 pm

I would use if with the Ghirardelli hot cocoa, and my husband would use it for his favorite, Twinings Earl Grey.

michelle rosborough 07.03.09 at 11:10 pm

I’d like to try donut shop coffee. It has great reviews on Amazon and I’d use the coffee maker in all the ways you wrote about

Michelle D. 07.04.09 at 5:54 am

Love the cup by cup & hot water features. We are a busy family of 5 & this would be such a convenience for our scattered schedules in the morning.

Michelle D. 07.04.09 at 5:59 am

Oops, hit submit too soon. So many flavors that look good, but Donut shop & Gloria Jean’s Hazelnut would be my choices.

Rox 07.04.09 at 7:35 am

A part-time Vermonter, I LOVE Green Mountain Coffee in any variety, especially organic, and I also love Ghiradelli hot cocoa… great contest! Fingers crossed for a win!

Tina 07.05.09 at 9:32 pm

I love the variety of k-kups! I want to try all of the hot chocolates and the gloria jeans butter toffee. I love the fact that it has the hot water feature! That’s so awesome!!

Tricia 07.05.09 at 10:07 pm

The Hazelnut Coffee by Gloria Jeans sounds heavenly! This would be a perfect to use for my afternoon cup of coffee!

Shannon 07.05.09 at 10:31 pm

Newman’s Own Special Blend Extra Bold, I love everything by Newman’s. I would use my Keurig every moring to start my day off great! Then I would use it again at night to make my husbands before bed Hot Cocoa!

Jodi B 07.05.09 at 10:34 pm

I would pick Caribou Blend, but really there are so many to choose from!

Natalie 07.05.09 at 10:39 pm

Love love love the chai tea. Very soothing!

Melissa S 07.05.09 at 11:21 pm

I love a lighter coffee … no French Roast for me! I would get Caribou’s Daybreak Blend. Then there is always Hot chocolate…yummy.

C2cmom 07.05.09 at 11:36 pm

The chai teas (any of them) or the Green Mountain light roast. This would be my afternoon coffee break indulgence or I’d use it to offer to neighbors or during playdates.

Sue 07.05.09 at 11:41 pm

Any of the green teas would be my favorite, followed close by milk hot chocolate!

Lisa S 07.05.09 at 11:50 pm

Love at first sight? You bet! My kids and I have longed for a Keurig ever since discovering it on a visit to Grandma’s in April! Hot cocoa nuts, they went through an entire package of Green Mt.hot cocoa in 2 days! I adored the chai tea and the ease of use–and cleanup! This would be the ultimate addition to our kitchen. My guests would thank you, too, as I’ve been known to make horrible, gritty pots of coffee with my ancient coffee maker. Thanks!

Jamie Bird 07.06.09 at 2:40 am

I like Vanilla, although not nearly as much as my father–who often pops by and laughs at my sad excuse for a coffee pot.

Tom Crafts 07.06.09 at 2:57 am

I used to live off this stuff at my old office. I would have two Green Mountain Vanillas in the morning and then a green tea chai in the afternoon to get over that 3pm lull.

Maureen 07.06.09 at 4:47 am

The ghiradelli hot chocolate is to die for!!

Anne 07.06.09 at 5:42 am

The Donut Shop sounds great, and of course the Ghiradelli hot chocolate. And the Chai Tea. OK, so I can’t pick one. Please pick me: Mama needs coffee…and hot chocolate….and tea : )

Katja of Skimbaco 07.06.09 at 6:08 am

The hazelnut! A friend of mine has one of these, and I’ve been wanting to get one, it is so easy, just to make coffee one cup of a time. Oh yes, and I mean good coffee.

Carolina 07.06.09 at 6:14 am

I’m going to have to go with one of the variety packs. I simply cannot decide. Since I only drink one cup of coffee per day, this coffeemaker is PERFECT for me!

Deb 07.06.09 at 8:12 am

I love Newman’s Own everything. I want to be able to use those little cups the coffee comes in for paint dishes. They look like the perfect size. So basically I want to have a cup of coffee and get inspired to paint.

Lori 07.06.09 at 8:21 am

My husband and I would LOVE to give the Extra Bold a try. With 2 young children we need it! Our Presto coffeemaker broke awhile ago and on one teacher’s salary, we decided to replace it with a Mr. Coffee. We are getting burnt, stale coffee from it, but it’s better than nothing at this time! We’ve never tried a Keurig before.

Brina 07.06.09 at 8:25 am

Mom of twin 2 year olds and a three year old…. M-O-M-M-Y needs C-O-F-F-E-E :-) This would be great when I need a cup mid afternoon so I can stay awake while the little ones nap! Oh and the many other times a day that a fresh cup sounds delish.

Green Mountain Fair Trade Rain Forest Nut sounds yum….and its FAIR TRADE certified, behind every cup there’s person who picked the bean.

Gretchen 07.06.09 at 8:31 am

Ghiradelli hot chocolate would be delish this next winter…please pick me!

Michelle G 07.06.09 at 8:46 am

I love my coffee - but hate my coffee pot. I’ve been coveting one of these nifty machines since I saw one a year ago. I know that coffee can’t buy happiness, but I think this would come close. :) Especially with some Mudslide coffe from Gloria Jeans. *drool*

Phyllis Wallin 07.06.09 at 9:10 am

Hot Chocolate - any chocolate ummmmmmm

Alecia 07.06.09 at 9:33 am

Ghirardelli hot cocoa….all the way!!

Lana 07.06.09 at 9:50 am

OHH what a great thing! My husband is not a coffee drinker, so making just 1 cup is perfect. Our grandparents & aunts all have this coffeemaker. I LOVE IT. My favorite is the Cafe Escapes Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa or Gloria Jeans (any flavor) coffee. YUM YUM!

Katie 07.06.09 at 1:59 pm

Newmans Own Decaf for me and Black Tiger for my hubby. Oh and hot cocoa for the kids!

stephen kaiss 07.06.09 at 2:51 pm

We love the hot chocolate!

Kelly 07.06.09 at 3:56 pm

My husband was introduced to the Keurig while deployed in Iraq last year! I had been faithfully sending him bags and bags of Starbucks ground coffee in his care packages…when one day, he asked me to start sending K-Cups for the Keurig(oh, and please send enough for all of the squadron:0)…..I had never heard of a Keurig. He went on to tell me that it is the most AMAZING COFFEE MAKER EVER!
So, now he is thankfully home….but still longs for the Keurig Coffee Maker….he loves the stronger brews of Caribou and Gloria Jeans.I would love to win one of these fabulous machines!

Alyssa 07.06.09 at 4:18 pm

That little machine looks fabulous!

Mark Faulkner 07.06.09 at 5:00 pm

I love to have one because we don’t have any! My wife hates coffee but my little girl (uh…not so little 17) loves it. She likes to try different flavors but I stick to the robust type at work……

Margo 07.06.09 at 6:26 pm

Caribou, medium blend k cup. Definitely! Until I change my mind again. The Earl Grey and hot chocolate look great too.

Melanie 07.06.09 at 6:28 pm

Yummy! I would definitely use the hot chocolate and hot water feature!

terri 07.06.09 at 7:45 pm

for sure, for sure caribou for me…. hazlenut for the hubby… and for the kiddos… hot tea and hot chocolate!!! love!!!!

sarah 07.07.09 at 3:57 am

I think I’d mix it up… take a mug large enough to manage two brews and then combine a hot chocolate with a dark roast… Creating my own makeshift mocha!!!

Jenny 07.07.09 at 9:16 am

We love the hot chocolate and hazlenut.

haley 07.07.09 at 11:37 am

I love using my father-in-law’s kuerig when we go visit. I love all the Newman’s Own varieties.

tuesday 07.07.09 at 12:28 pm

I would LOVE the hot chocolate for cold winter days!

Susan 07.07.09 at 1:34 pm

LOVE my coffee in the morning, but only a cup for me…Caribou Blend. And some hot chocolate for the kids!

Jessica 07.07.09 at 11:15 pm

Green Mountain - Vermont Country Blend is great!

Laura 07.08.09 at 3:51 am

Oh how I wish you had a Keurig Platinum Edition coffeemaker!!
My favorite flavor is National Wildlife Blend Coffee by Green Mountain.
I would use my coffeemaker to “help save the wildlife while enjoying subtle hints of chocolate and caramel”.
I would also use my coffeemaker to save lots of money at the coffee shop!

Laura 07.08.09 at 5:13 am

Oh how I wish I had a Keurig Platinum Edition coffeemaker!! I had!! Me!!

John 07.08.09 at 11:09 am

Well,
We’re a mixed marriage on our house when it comes to coffee. I like strong coffee, my wife is a more genteel sort and I suspect she thinks my coffee selection is just short of drinking an aromatic blend of rubber and motor oil.

A single cup brewer would calm the coffee tempest, and a selection of hot chocolate would please the kids - so this looks like a perfect fit.

If we had one I would certainly choose the dark roast, but would find the most satisfaction in handing it over to my wife so that she did not have to endure my strange brew.

Cheers!

Kim 07.08.09 at 12:24 pm

Definitely Emeril’s coffee - I like low acidic coffees.

Heidi Whittier 07.08.09 at 7:01 pm

I tried the Keurig at my dad’s house two weekends and fell in love! My house has friends coming and going. The variety is just amazing. If I have to pick one flavour, it would have to be the Jet Fuel Coffee by The Coffee People.. I am a single mom with a wild 11 year old boy… I need Jet Fuel in the morning! Yummy with a great wake me up.

Geoffrey Holmes 07.08.09 at 7:05 pm

I don’t go without coffee… It’s best not to speak to me unless I have at least two cups in me….This machine would be a bessing for my girlfriend. I drink it as dark and dirty as possible, she likes the teas. Please save her!

Geoffrey Holmes 07.08.09 at 7:06 pm

Oh.. forgot to tell you my choice….Dark Magic… extra bold!!!!!!
