Can you believe our first party has come and gone already! We came, we partied, we left pampered! There were amazing decorations, spa stations, Blogluxe awards, blogging babes, and fabulous sponsors. Here's a few pictures from the eventful night.
Thanks to Swiffer for being our title sponsor and helping us throw an amazing party. It was a blast, getting primped and polished while hanging out with blogging friends, what more could a girl want? For more photos visit our Flickr Pool (photos courtesy of ISLY, Eye-Fi, Whrrl.)
We'll be airing two back to back specials from 4-6 pm ET and 7-9 pm ET so listen in live or download and catch up on all the action! Plus, we'll also be streaming the event live with Gadget Spin host and Tech Mama extraordinaire, Beth Blecherman. We'll be posting the video on the Swiffer SocialLuxe Lounge blog at 4 pm Eastern Time so get ready to get an inside look at the action!
As if the awards, the beauty treatments and the fab food and beverages were not enough... We'll be conducting Ambush Accessory Makeovers during the party. You never know - you may be selected as the recipient of an instant whole new look! We've got great stuff to dress you up in - designer handbags, gorgeous jewelry and designer shades.
To outfit our ambushees, we skipped the mall and department stores and headed over to T.J. Maxx and Marshalls where our dollars went much further. At both stores, you’ll find the same on-trend, in-season, quality merchandise as department and specialty stores, but for much less. In fact, if you compare price tags, you’ll see that T.J.Maxx and Marshalls prices are up to 60% less for the same items I've seen at those other, more expensive stores!
For those of you who can't make it to the SocialLuxe Lounge and a chance at an Ambush Accessory Makeover, we've got another treat. Follow the SocialLuxe Twitter account during the party and you could win one of 8 $100 gift cards to go back to school shopping, or shopping for your own accessories.
Heading back-to-school means putting your best fashion foot forward for my girls. I let them have my flip cam to browse for back to school looks while I put together the ensembles for our party. They had a blast, as you can see! But I was happy to see that most of the stuff they were picking out was so inexpensive! For me, I worry about how much this back-to-school shopping season will cost me. The good news is shopping at off-price retailers like T.J. Maxx andMarshalls give me a one-stop shop for all of their back-to-school needs.
One more great thing about T.J. Maxx and Marshalls and back to school shopping? The company is giving back. Just by shopping at T.J. Maxx this season, you can help send more than 900 kids back-to-school with the basics they need. Beginning August 3rd, special edition reusable shopping bags will be available for purchase at T.J. Maxx for just $0.99. For each bag purchased, T.J. Maxx is donating one basic item, such as socks, underwear and backpacks, to Save The Children U.S. programs
Incidentally, hot trends for the girls to pick-out are preppy, rocker and grunge styles; items like bomber jackets, skinny jeans, tie-die, torn denim, graphic tees, bests, leggings, ballet flats, moccasins, detailed pumps, wide belts, headbands and anything plaid. My girls did not need to read thisthough - you can see what they picked out. Don't forget to watch the Live Stream of the party and follow @socialluxe on twitter to see what we picked out for YOU!
Note: Much thanks too to Lena Lotsey, of The Cheeky Lotus, who is one of our VIPs and Cheeseburgher party hostess who spent four hours helping me pull together these looks. We're waiting to be cast in our own new reality show!
Good thing we have KODAK at the Swiffer SocialLuxe Lounge this Thursday, so we can capture all the fabulous moments at BlogHer! Even if you're not able to come to Chicago this weekend, you'll still be part of the action! As KODAK has one of the largest photo-sharing Web sites, their KODAK Gallery enables millions of people instantly share their lives with friends and family.
And lucky for us, there will be a KODAK Picture Kiosk at the lounge! You'll be able to get creative with your photos and share them will all your BlogHer friends!! Wahoo, it's almost time to party!
Do I sound like Homer Simpson's "dooooughnuts"? Well, I'm so happy to let you know that lots and lots of brownies from Weight Watchers will be at the Swiffer SocialLuxe Lounge on Thursday! It's one of their brand new flavors of sweets on the menu and I can't wait to try one... or three!
We're so happy to have LEGO on with us as a sponsor of the Swiffer SocialLuxe Lounge. You may be wondering how bright colored LEGOS will fit into the party, but you really can make anything with these, you'll see this Thursday at the party! Here's a hint:
And here's just a little peak at some other fabulous creations that can be made with these tiny toys!
Most of us immediately think of kids toy sets when we hear the brand name "LEGO", but did you know that they also make fun kitchen & dining accessories too?! Here are a few fun LEGO entertaining finds for the young & young at heart!
What's that you say? BlogHer is in ONE WEEK?!?! Do you have your party schedule planned? If you don't, get on it...because the party scene at BlogHer is hot hot hot and you won't want to miss out on the action. Be sure to check out the Kirtsy BlogHer party guide (yup, we're one of their featured parties!) and BlogHer's comprehensive party list. Party on, dudes.
What's a party without music? A meeting. And we're not holding a meeting on July 23...we're throwing a party! So bring on the tunes!
Good news...you can get the Swiffer SocialLuxe Lounge iMix on iTunes! Here's a fun little window to check it out all TEN pages of songs. Or, to view our iMix in iTunes, click "Music" then click "iMix" and search for "SocialLuxe Lounge."
Not all the music we'll be playing is on there, but a lot of it is. So go ahead, take a listen ahead of time to get yourself into party mode. Enjoy!
Thanks to those of you who shared some great music suggestions...listen for your faves at the party next week!
Just when I thought I'd never find anything sufficiently fabulous and comfortable to wear to the Swiffer SocialLuxe Lounge, I got the invitation of my dreams: a chance to visit the Single warehouse and shop for options for the hostesses to wear to the event!
I'm already familiar with Single because inevitably, when I cover celebrity events or go to swanky parties, I end up seeing someone in one of their creations and eyeing their frock with much jealousy. The dresses and tops in this line are comfortable couture, made from gorgeous custom silks that have a fabric junkie like myself drooling.
To be honest, I had a hard time in the warehouse. With so much to choose from and six women to choose for, it wasn't easy! I was surrounded by so much gorgeousness that I felt a little dizzy and faint. I had to focus! Fortunately I had all my co-hostesses on the phone and on email and was mailing pictures to some from the spot. I won't give away exactly what I chose for each, just cross your fingers that I got it right! Hopefully it will all fit and you'll have a chance to see what we got on the day of the party. My fellow hostesses are such rockstars that I cannot wait to see them all dressed up in gorgeous clothes like these.
Here's a sneak peak at some of the dresses I considered, via my Whrrlstory. The ones I chose were equally amazing. Sorry my phone cam did not do them justice.
If you've got a special occasion to go to, and you want to feel confident and beautiful and yes, comfortable, do a search for "Single Dress" or shop on their Single Dress site. You'll look marvelous. I hope we will too!
